Machine Learning Intern
Sahand Somi is Machine Learning Intern with the Advanced Tech Team at Amii. Within this role, he works with scientists, researchers and an industry partner to investigate the use of AI in an oil and gas setting.
Prior to joining Amii, Sahand was a research assistant at the University of Alberta, where he built and developed ML models for construction problems. He also interned with AltaML, partnering with a company that provides industrial automation solutions.
Sahand received his MSc in construction management and engineering from the University of Alberta, focused on using recommendation models for risk management in construction problems. His current research interest is reinforcement learning models for industrial problems.
Outside of work, Sahand loves to play soccer, chess and video games. He also enjoys hiking and exploring nature.
