We are building out our business development team and are looking for a Key Account Manager to join the team. This role is an exceptional opportunity to engage with clients from scale-ups to large enterprises to connect them to Amii’s world-class AI/ML researchers and scientists.

About Amii

One of Canada’s three main institutes for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, our world-renowned researchers drive fundamental and applied research at the University of Alberta (and other academic institutions), training some of the world’s top scientific talent. Our cross-functional teams work collaboratively with Alberta-based businesses and organizations to build AI capacity and translate scientific advancement into industry adoption and economic impact.

Job Purpose and Accountabilities

Reporting to the VP of Investment & Partnerships, the Key Account Manager serves as a key member of the business development team and plays an active role in supporting interactions and building relationships with Amii’s clients and service delivery teams.

The Key Account Manager will connect with Amii’s targeted accounts as well as seek out new accounts, primarily in Western Canada, and close agreements to deliver Amii’s AI capacity building services to industrial and advanced technology clients.

The role focuses on achieving excellence in three main accountabilities:

  • Growing revenue from Amii’s AI capacity-building services for business in Western Canada.
  • Account management of clients within targeted industry and advanced technology sectors, including building and maintaining relationships across client stakeholder groups.
  • Building and iterating repeatable processes to enable Amii to scale up its ability to connect with businesses and organizations in the market


  • 3+ years of technology or service organization sales experience
  • University undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Some experience and ambition in inside sales with relatively short to medium length sales cycles
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets and receiving exceptional client feedback
  • Proficiency with common client success and client relationship management software.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

  • Demonstrates presence, self-confidence, sound judgment, and strong problem-solving ability.
  • Successfully manages multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collegiality and willingness to listen to feedback and support teammates.
  • Able to make informed decisions while collaborating with staff and subject matter experts when appropriate.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills for effective interactions with internal departments and external stakeholders. Operates with high standards of integrity, trust and work ethic.
