The Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta and Amii have an immediate opening for one or two postdoctoral fellows to work with the Amii Fellows in multiple areas of Artificial Intelligence research.
The Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) is one of three centers of excellence in the Pan-Canadian AI strategy. Amii is establishing an Amii-wide post-doc position for post-docs to work with the Amii Fellows. One strength of Amii is the collaborative nature of the centre. Thus, the ideal candidate will work with two or more fellows to conduct novel and transformative research.
The appointment will initially be for a one-year term and will be renewable for an additional year subject to the availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
The postdoctoral fellow will work in a multi-disciplinary group of computer scientists and their students. For information about the Amii Fellows and their research, see Our People.
Applicants are not required to be working directly in the area of an Amii fellow as long as they can make a compelling research proposal that connects the proposed work. For example, someone may propose working with fellows to explore the equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) implications of machine learning, even if the fellows are not directly working on research related to EDI. As the fellows perform research in broad areas of AI, candidates working in areas outside of machine learning are also encouraged to apply.
Please read application instructions carefully; incomplete applications will not be considered.
To apply, please submit a cover letter, CV, 1-2 page research statement, and contact information for 2-5 references to amiiadm+pdf2022@ualberta.ca. Additional material may be submitted at the discretion of the candidate.
Be sure that the following details are included:
The starting date for this position is negotiable. The review of applications will begin on June 27th. In order to ensure full consideration, applications must be completed by July 8th, 2022, but the search will continue until suitable candidates are found.
