Machine intelligence is advanced computing that enables a machine to interact with its environment in an intelligent way. In its simplest definition, artificial intelligence aims to mimic knowledge, skills and abilities that would otherwise require human intellect. It helps automate and make processes more efficient. Machine learning enables computers to learn the same way humans do – by interpreting the data around us and making a decision based on that data, in some cases automatically learning from the success or failure of that decision.

The resurgence of machine intelligence is now.
Machine intelligence has been an important field of study since the early 1900s,
but has seen its greatest resurgence more recently, thanks to a few key factors:

Connected machines are ubiquitous and machines are collecting and transmitting data every second, ranging from web browsers to crude oil distillation units. Today, thanks to connected devices like computers and mobile phones, we have more data at our fingertips than we ever have before.

It has become common practice in business environments to make decisions based on feedback and data, and thanks to the increased intersection between IT, marketing, finance, and sales, businesses are understanding the value of data, and are identifying early opportunities to collect data from key sources in the business process.

The capacity to store and process data has increased significantly, as we continue to develop technology at an exponential rate. This has made it cheaper and easier to integrate machine intelligence into business processes, and has made it accessible to businesses and research teams of all sizes, levelling the playing field and limiting us only by our curiosity.
