Ali Yavari is a Machine Learning Resident at the Amii, where he develops data-driven control solutions at the intersection of reinforcement learning, time series transformers, physics-informed neural networks, and process control. He brings a blend of academic and industrial research experience, a residency with Repsol focused on advanced control solutions and research internships at EPFL on state estimation and robust control. Ali earned his M.Sc. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta, specializing in safe reinforcement learning, observer-based state estimation, and the control of partially observable systems.
Beyond research, Ali enjoys discovering new cafés, staying active through sports, and draws on a diverse background—including time as a semi-professional gymnast.
