The $2.7M partnership supports the development of AI Learning Kits for teachers across the province
At a time when AI proficiency is fast becoming the new foundational skill, today’s K-12 learners must move beyond simply using these tools to developing a foundational understanding of how they work.
To catalyze this transition, Amii is partnering with the Alberta government on a three-year partnership to expand and deliver specialized AI learning kits for classrooms across the province. The $2.7 million initiative will equip educators with the resources needed to prepare a new generation to lead in the global AI economy.
"AI is the defining literacy of the coming decades," says Cam Linke, CEO of Amii. "By supporting our educators today, we ensure Alberta students are AI-confident and ready to lead as they enter the workforce. Amii is proud to empower Alberta’s teachers with world-class training, sparking a ripple effect across thousands of classrooms. In doing so, we are training the architects of our future economy and securing Alberta’s long-term prosperity as a global leader in innovation.”

A Proven Track Record of Impact
While this new partnership marks a major milestone, it builds on a foundation Amii established in 2023. Co-developed by Amii’s educational and machine learning experts, Amii’s K-12 literacy program has already evolved from ambitious pilots into a national force for educational change.
Amii’s K-12 Program Impact to Date
127,000+ students impacted across Canada
5,000 teachers trained

The expansion of the K-12 literacy program builds on Amii’s formidable track record of training over 250,000 individuals worldwide and aligns with major Amii-led AI training and literacy initiatives including:
• AI Pathways: Energizing Canada’s Low-Carbon Workforce—supported by the Government of Canada’s Sustainable Jobs Training Fund to upskill nearly 6,000 Canadian energy workers.
• AI Workforce Readiness program, supported by Google.org to train more than 125,000 Canadian post-secondary students.
• AI Literacy for Everyone platform, a comprehensive AI literacy platform designed and launched by Amii last year.
“Artificial intelligence is already reshaping how we work, learn and live – and Alberta students need to be ready for that reality. That’s why we’re strengthening AI education in a way that is safe, responsible and age-appropriate, with clear expectations around privacy, security and academic integrity. With its global leadership in artificial intelligence, Amii is the right partner to help Alberta lead the way in AI literacy.”

Bridging the Literacy Gap
According to a 2025 report by the Higher Education Policy Institute, 92% of students are already using AI, while 45% of educators globally report having zero formal training to guide them. Amii’s partnership with the Alberta Government directly addresses this readiness gap, moving AI literacy into the classroom as a foundational literacy to be taught with confidence.
The new AI learning kits are designed to complement existing digital literacy curricula, offering age-appropriate, responsible, and safe pathways for students to explore AI. The initiative addresses several key pillars of educational evolution:
• Empowering Educators: Providing world-class training and resources teachers need to lead the AI conversation, tackling essential topics like: Harnessing the potential of generative AI tool; AI in the Real World; and Careers Reimagined.
• Safe & Ethical Integration: Establishing clear expectations around privacy, security, and academic integrity.
• Collaborative Development: This fall, the government and Amii will engage with businesses and education partners to ensure the kits meet the practical needs of the future workforce.
The new AI learning kits will be available to public, separate, francophone, charter, First Nations and independent school boards by spring 2028.
