Overview
As part of Amii’s AI Pathways program, eligible participants may receive early access to apply for one of 50 bursaries to attend Upper Bound 2027, Amii’s annual AI conference in Edmonton, Alberta.
The bursary is intended to help reduce financial barriers to attending Upper Bound and provide eligible AI Pathways participants with access to additional learning, networking, and professional development opportunities.
A total of 50 bursaries have been allocated to this initiative. Bursaries are subject to the eligibility requirements and conditions outlined below and are not awarded by chance.
General Conditions
Bursaries have no cash alternative and may not be sold, transferred or exchanged.
Receiving or registering for this bursary opportunity does not guarantee admission to any other Amii program, employment opportunity or future funding opportunity.
Amii reserves the right to modify, suspend or discontinue this bursary initiative where reasonably necessary, including in response to changes to Upper Bound 2027, program requirements, funding requirements or circumstances outside Amii's reasonable control.
Where a material change affects an approved recipient, Amii will make reasonable efforts to communicate that change directly to the participant.
Eligibility
To be considered for an Upper Bound 2027 bursary through this initiative, participants must:
Be enrolled in the eligible AI Pathways program;
Receive or otherwise be eligible for this bursary opportunity;
Register their interest through the designated Amii bursary registration form;
Successfully complete all required AI Pathways courses by September 30, 2026;
Meet any additional Upper Bound bursary eligibility requirements established by Amii; and
Provide any information reasonably required by Amii to verify eligibility and administer the bursary.
Registration for the bursary opportunity does not, on its own, guarantee that a bursary will be awarded.
Bursary Allocation
Up to 50 bursaries are available through this initiative.
Bursaries will be allocated to eligible participants who have registered for the opportunity and satisfied the applicable program completion and bursary requirements, subject to availability.
If the number of eligible participants exceeds the number of bursaries available, Amii may apply additional administrative criteria to determine bursary recipients. Any such criteria will be applied consistently to eligible participants.
Amii will confirm directly with participants who have been approved to receive a bursary.
Bursary Benefits
Individuals approved for an Upper Bound 2027 bursary are expected to receive:
An Upper Bound 2027 Conference Pass;
An Upper Bound 2027 Food Hall Pass; and
Where applicable, a location-based stipend to help offset travel costs.
Final bursary benefits, values and travel stipend amounts for Upper Bound 2027 will be communicated to approved recipients and are subject to the applicable Upper Bound 2027 bursary program terms.
For reference, Upper Bound 2026 used the following location-based travel stipend structure:
Edmonton and surrounding region: No travel stipend
Outside Edmonton but within Alberta: $250 CAD
Canada, but outside Edmonton: $1,250 CAD
The Upper Bound 2027 stipend structure may differ from the 2026 structure. Any applicable 2027 amounts will be confirmed by Amii before bursaries are finalized.
Travel stipends are intended to help offset eligible travel expenses and should not be interpreted as reimbursement for all costs associated with attending Upper Bound.
Travel Stipend Administration
Where a travel stipend is included, recipients may be required to attend Upper Bound 2027 in person and provide complete and accurate information to Amii's finance team by specified deadlines.
Travel stipends may be processed following the conference and may require additional processing time. Specific payment timelines and administrative requirements will be communicated to approved bursary recipients.
Recipients remain responsible for making their own travel and accommodation arrangements unless Amii expressly communicates otherwise.
Other AI Pathways Incentives
Participants who have registered for or received another completion-based incentive associated with this initiative, including the Amii swag promotion, may not be eligible to receive a bursary through this particular offer.
Amii may cross-reference program registration and completion records to prevent duplicate participation across these incentive initiatives.
Verification
Amii may verify a participant's course enrolment, course completion status, bursary registration and other information necessary to determine eligibility.
Participants are responsible for ensuring that information submitted in connection with the bursary is complete and accurate. Providing incomplete, inaccurate or misleading information may result in a participant being deemed ineligible.
Privacy
Information collected through the bursary registration process will be used to administer the bursary initiative, verify eligibility, communicate with applicants and recipients, and fulfill applicable program and reporting requirements.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with Amii's applicable privacy practices.
