Solving critical challenges to enable robots to learn, adapt, and interact safely in human environments.

Jun Jin is an Amii Fellow and an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at the University of Alberta.

His research in real-world robotic reinforcement learning achieved significant acclaim, securing a top-3 finalist position for the Outstanding Student Paper Award at ICRA 2022, the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society's leading conference. Jun also earned global top-5 finalist recognition for the KUKA Innovation Award in 2018. Ultimately, his long-term goal is to derive learning priors from first principles, leading to scalable algorithms that make robots agile, easily programmable, and capable of human-aware interaction.
