Mutahar Safdar is a Machine Learning Resident in the Advanced Technology team. He is currently working with Apollo Machine & Welding Ltd. to support on-machine defect detection in metal 3D printing. His project aims to scale the use of machine learning for industrial production and repair of functional parts.
During his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at McGill University, Mutahar worked on a 3+2 Canada-Germany joint research project, where he developed machine learning solutions to accelerate process qualification in advanced manufacturing. He also holds MSc and BSc degrees in Mechanical Engineering, with multidisciplinary research at the intersection of computer science, artificial intelligence, design, and manufacturing. He is passionate about translating artificial intelligence research into real-world engineering solutions.
