In this Upper Bound 2025 session on machine learning for survival prediction, Amii Fellow and Canada CIFAR AI Chair Russ Greiner talks about using AI to answer an important question: "How long do I have to live?" He explains that predicting time-to-event outcomes, whether in medicine or business, is far more complex than standard regression due to the challenge of censoring—the fact that for many subjects, we only have incomplete information.

He presents his results on generating personalized Individual Survival Distributions. This machine learning approach creates a unique survival curve for each person based on their specific data, handling censored observations, and what it could mean for personalized treatment plans.

Upper Bound 2025 is Amii's annual artificial intelligence conference, held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, bringing together researchers, industry, and policymakers. The conference focuses on accelerating AI excellence and innovation for good, emphasizing AI for critical infrastructure, health, industrial operations, responsible AI, and AI Literacy.
