Jai Riley is a Machine Learning Resident on the Advanced Technology team at Amii. He currently works with Thrive Career Wellness, building large language model–based tools to help democratize access to high-quality career coaching. Previously, Jai was an Applied Research Intern at Illumia Labs, where he developed LLM-powered tutoring systems, and a researcher at the University of Alberta, applying NLP tools and language models across interdisciplinary domains.

Jai earned an MSc in Computing Science from the University of Alberta, where his research focused on using language models to understand how individuals with different reading backgrounds process text. He also holds an Honours BSc in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Saskatchewan, with a thesis on emotion recognition in images and video.
Outside of work, Jai enjoys playing video games with friends, cooking, and prehistoric life.
