Katalin Szonyi is an Instructional Designer on Amii’s Training team. She is especially interested in designing learning that builds understanding, develops practical capability, and helps people effectively apply what they know to solve problems, make informed choices, and create positive change. At Amii, she helps create learning experiences around AI and machine learning that enable people to better understand these technologies, recognize where they can create value, and make informed decisions about when and how to apply them. Her work is shaped by a deep interest in the learning sciences, behaviour change, inclusion, and human-centred and trauma-informed design. She brings experience designing learning across government, post-secondary education, and corporate settings, including curriculum and learning architecture, scenario- and simulation-based learning, onboarding, performance support, and accessible digital learning. Katalin holds a Bachelor of Computing from Queen’s University and a diploma in Computer Engineering Technology from St. Lawrence College.

Driven by curiosity, Katalin continually deepens her understanding of AI and machine learning and how people learn, build skills, and change behaviour. She is energized by innovation, finding thoughtful, creative ways to improve learning within the constraints at hand, testing what works, and continually refining it. She cares deeply about inclusion and about helping more people develop the understanding and capability to engage with, apply, and benefit from AI and machine learning thoughtfully and responsibly. Outside of work, she explores visual and interactive storytelling through screenwriting, animation, and game writing, with a particular interest in how stories, games, and immersive experiences can support learning, skill building, and agency.
