AI Literacy & Training

At Amii, we believe AI literacy should be accessible to everyone. Our multidisciplinary team of educators, pedagogy experts, and machine learning scientists design programs that transform complex technical concepts into practical, agile workplace skills. Having already impacted 1.2 million learners worldwide, Amii is proud to shape the future of AI training through high-impact national initiatives.

Five new curriculum packages are under development, bridging specialized skills across industries from information integrity to global logistics.

One year after its launch, Amii’s AI Workforce Readiness (AIWR) program is demonstrating that it is meeting the current moment, in which AI literacy and workforce readiness are top of mind and recognized as national priorities.

Domain-specific, ready to use

Curriculum Resource Packages

Building on its momentum, the AIWR program is expanding its educational focus with the next wave of AIWR Curriculum Resource Packages. Developed with the program's ethos of a collaborative community of practice, these domain-specific, ready-to-use toolkits are designed to help post-secondary instructors seamlessly integrate essential AI competencies and learning tools into existing courses. Following the success of its initial five packages, the consortium is excited to announce its next areas of focus:

AI in Accounting

Developed with subject matter experts at Thompson Rivers University & BCIT.

AI Literacy in Academic Research

Developed with subject matter experts at  University of Alberta, Bow Valley College & University of Waterloo.

AI for Analysis in Journalism

Developed with subject matter experts at  Kwantlen Polytechnic University & Lethbridge Polytechnic.

AI in Logistics, Transportation, and Supply Chain Management

Developed with subject matter experts at Bow Valley College.

AI in Cybersecurity

Developed with subject matter experts at  BCIT.

I am incredibly excited to announce our next five Curriculum Resource Packages. By continuing to build on our collaborative community of practice, these new resources will empower post-secondary instructors across Canada to seamlessly integrate essential AI competencies into their courses and ensure students in fields from Accounting to Journalism to Logistics, and to Cybersecurity are equipped with the skills they need to lead in an AI-driven future.

- Clay Lowe, Manager, AI Workforce Readiness program

The curriculum resource packages are developed in collaboration with Amii’s Training team (including ML Educators, Instructional Designers, and AI Literacy Specialists) and subject matter experts (SMEs) from the AIWR consortium.

The first five Curriculum Resource Packages began development in December 2025 and included: AI in Financial Investment, AI in Technical Communication, AI Tools for Computational Biology, AI in Early Childhood Education, and AI in Nursing and Healthcare Practices. Now, upon completion, the initial Curriculum Resource Packages will be available to consortium members and utilized in classrooms and lecture halls across the country this fall.

Module 0: From Pilot to Launch

Alongside the curriculum resource packages, AIWR members also have access to Module 0, which is now officially ready to launch following a successful nationwide pilot.

This introductory, three-hour learning resource provides AIWR consortium partners with an essential baseline of AI literacy for post-secondary students. Building on UNESCO’s AI Competency Framework for Students, the module has been refined through institutional feedback to ensure that learners understand not just how AI works but also how to apply it effectively and responsibly in their training, studies, and future professional lives.

Since December 2025, all consortium members have had access to Module 0 and have deployed internal pilots of varying scales. Feedback gathered after Upper Bound, via the AIWR program survey, is now driving improvements to ensure seamless integration across members' diverse learning management systems.

Building AI Confidence for Canada’s Emerging Workforce

Canada’s recent launch of the federal AI strategy, AI for All, highlights the critical importance of foundational AI literacy skills in building an AI-skilled nation. This framework ensures Canadians have the confidence they need to understand, navigate, and evaluate AI technology in their daily lives, while successfully applying AI tools to the next generation of work.

Amii is operationalizing this vision at scale. Building on this established momentum, the AIWR program, supported by Google.org, has grown into a national consortium of 57 post-secondary institutions, all uniting around a shared goal: equipping more than 125,000 Canadian students annually with the foundational skills and confidence to lead in an AI-driven workforce.
