Jill Kowalchuk Amii

Jill Kowalchuk is the Manager of AI Literacy at Amii, where she leads initiatives that support individuals, educators, school leaders, education systems and institutions in building AI literacy and thoughtfully integrating artificial intelligence into teaching and learning. Her work focuses on developing practical, research-informed resources and professional learning opportunities that empower professionals to navigate the opportunities and challenges of AI while centering agency, ethics, and responsible innovation.

A former junior high and high school humanities teacher, Jill has become a recognized voice in AI literacy and AI in education. She has led and supported various initiatives that bring together educators, policymakers, researchers, and industry partners to advance AI literacy across K–12, post-secondary, and workforce learning environments. She is a frequent speaker on the implications of generative AI for education, with a particular focus on curriculum, career pathways, workforce readiness, ethics of AI, and teacher/professional agency.

Jill holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta, a Graduate Diploma in Interdisciplinary Education from the University of Calgary, and a Master of Education in Social Justice Education, specializing in Critical Digital Literacy, from the University of Toronto. She is currently a PhD Candidate in Curriculum and Pedagogy at the University of Alberta, where her research explores teacher agency and professional judgment in the age of generative AI.
